Chocolate Tahini Swirl Brownies

Ingredients

For the Brownie Batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat pastry flour)

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 1 cup coconut sugar or brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 3/4 cup almond milk (or any plant milk)

  • 1/3 cup melted coconut oil (or vegan butter)

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (vegan if desired)

For the Tahini Swirl:

  • 1/3 cup tahini (stirred well)

  • 2 tablespoon maple syrup

  • Pinch of salt

Directions

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    • Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.

  2. Make the Tahini Swirl:

    • In a small bowl, mix together tahini, maple syrup, and a pinch of salt.

    • Stir until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

  3. Prepare the Brownie Batter:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

    • Add almond milk, melted coconut oil, maple syrup, and vanilla extract.

    • Stir until a thick, smooth batter forms.

    • Fold in the dark chocolate chips.

  4. Assemble the Brownies:

    • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.

    • Spoon dollops of the tahini mixture over the top.

    • Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the tahini into the batter — don’t overmix!

  5. Bake:

    • Bake for 28–32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (a few fudgy crumbs are perfect).

    • Let cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
